چکیده

Owing to the extensive global dependency on groundwater and associated increasing water demand, level is declining rapidly. In case of Islamabad, Pakistan, has lowered five times over past years due pumping by various departments residents meet local requirements. To address this, reservoirs sources need be delineated, potential recharge zones are highlighted assess potential. Therefore, current study utilizes an integrated approach based remote sensing (RS) GIS using influence factor (IF) technique delineate in Pakistan. Soil map Landsat 8TM satellite data, digital elevation model (ASTER DEM), geological were used for preparation thematic maps 15 key contributing factors considered this study. generate a combined map, rate weightage values assigned each representing their mutual capabilities. analyze final different assessment analogies study: poor, low, medium, high, best. The Islamabad classifies 15% (136.8 km2) region as “best” zone extracting groundwater. Furthermore, poor ranks 21%, 24%, 27%, 13% with respective areas 191.52 km2, 218.88 246.24 118.56 km2. Overall, research outlines best least favorable regarding potentials. Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems

Today remote sensing and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) appear quite regularly in the media. Geographical Information Systems are credited with almost magical qualities, whereas "cutting edge" satellite imagery is reputed to be able to do remarkable things such as, for example, reading from space the license plate of a military vehicle. It does not take much imagination to envision how ...

Groundwater potentiality through Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS)

Nowadays the use of remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) is one of the most powerful cost effective tools to identify and discover the available groundwater resources. In this paper, Lithological Units, Lineaments, Slope, Topography, Drainage density, Vegetation and Isohyets lines have been achieved by stations and through remote sensing and GIS techniques. All layers of diffe...

Understanding Groundwater Storage Changes and Recharge in Rajasthan, India through Remote Sensing

Groundwater management practices need to take hydrogeology, the agro-climate and demand for groundwater into account. Since agroclimatic zones have already been demarcated by the Government of India, it would aid policy makers to understand the status of groundwater recharge and discharge in each agroclimatic zone. However, developing effective policies to manage groundwater at agroclimatic zon...
